Because I've worked in broadcast, I have an experienced
understanding of content, sound quality, snappy editing and
to what specifications professional audio needs. As a
result, very few webmasters can produce the quality of
podcasting that I offer.
But some might want to know what a podcast is. A podcast is
a series of digital-media files (often mp3 files) which are
distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for
playback on portable media players and computers. So in
other words, it's a little radio show or video presentation
which can be episodic and automatically updated via
"podcatching" software such as itunes.
Whenever I travel on the train, I download my favourite
podcasts, usually via itunes or direct links to websites
and choose to listen when I want to listen. If I am going
somewhere obscure, there may be an obscure podcast
available. But more and more, I am finding podcasts on
highly specific subjects. And I make such podcasts myself.
